The intention of the project was the development of a generalised, industrial applicable approach for the automation of plants in the plating and wet chemical surface finishing industries.
For this purpose Guidelines “Integrated Process Automation” were developed which can be applied by process engineers. It facilitates the contributions which are necessary for the development of an auto-mated plant design. The Guidelines are aligned to the automation of a waste minimised process technology.
In addition a simulation model library of electrochemical engineering processes in plating and surface finishing technologies was developed. The model library is applicable for different potential users and can considerably support the engineering of modern process technologies.
- Methodologies and conceptions of the Guidelines were exemplarity demonstrated with industrial project partners realising all stages of engineering activities for the plant conversion to modern process technologies. At the same time the approach was tested and improved and the model library was advanced to a flexible, robust and fault-tolerant tool.
- Main contents of the Guidelines were published in different forms. The simulation model library was presented to interested users and was made available for independent use.
The Guidelines “Integrated Process Automation” have been included as schedule to the research report.
